The CCR-1 high school Communication Arts department believes the following are keys to preparing students for college and career readiness and as such, focuses on tailoring classes to these priority standards:
1. Compose personal and professional text with appropriate conventions and effective beginning, middle and end while showing audience awareness.
2. Read a variety of texts and analyze and evaluate based on evidence.
3. Paraphrase and summarize a variety of oral and written information.
4. Express ideas orally and in writing with precise word choice, figurative language, vivid and supportive details, counter arguments and active voice.
5. Develop life skills including problem solving and knowledge obtaining abilities, mental focus and preparedness.
