  • At least 2/3rd of the TOTAL hours documented must be direct student contact and 1/3rd of the TOTAL hours can be non-direct.
  • ALL of the hours documented CAN be direct student contact. 
  • Participants do NOT have to log any non-direct hours. 
  • Participants do NOT have to work the TOTAL hours per stage to get paid -- paid hourly rate for hours worked up to maximum [TOTAL PAYABLE] per stage -- but at least 2/3rd of the total hours documented for payment must be direct contact hours.
  • All hours documented must be completed beyond the contract day -- before 8:00 a.m. and after 3:30 p.m. and/or any other contracted duty time. [*HS contract time is 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.]

CAREER LADDER REMINDERS

  • Contract time is 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for most buildings* -- hours documented for Career Ladder must be before & after that contract time and/or any other contracted time. [*HS contract time is 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.]
  • Document hours in 15 minute increments -- 0/15, 0/30, 0/45, 1/00, 1/15, etc.
  • Documented hours must be for responsibilities that are approved and the action completed must match what is stated for each responsibility.
  • Hours cannot be documented for two different responsibilities during the same time period. For instance, if you are working on curriculum while tutoring a student, you can document the direct student time OR the curriculum time, but you cannot document both. 

For the 2021-22 school year...

DIRECT HOURS -- Responsibilities #1 & 2 --

You can begin documenting hours beginning after 3:30 p.m. [3:15 p.m. for HS] on April 15, 2021.

  • ALL participants are required to have Responsibility #1 in their plan and document hours for Responsibility #1.
  • Contact hours throughout summer cannot be documented.
  • Hours on days when students are not in attendance [PD days, holiday breaks, weekends, etc.] cannot be documented unless it is approved by the administrator. Administrator signature is required on the documentation. This requirement has been suspended for 2021-22.
  • Due to liability issues, hours cannot be documented on days when school is cancelled for any reason -- weather, threat, water break, etc.
  • Hours during a PD Day cannot be counted. PD Days are contracted time.
  • Hours during Parent/Teacher conferences cannot be counted. P/T Conferences are contracted time.
  • Responsibility #1 -- Initials of students must be included on the documentation.

NON-DIRECT HOURS -- Responsibilities #3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 --

You can document hours beginning after 3:30 p.m. [3:15 p.m. for HS] on April 15, 2021. 

  • ALL participants are required to have Responsibility #3 in their plan for the 2021-22 school year.
  • For Responsibilities #3, 4, & 7 -- hours can be documented during the summer.
  • For Responsibilities #5 & 6 -- hours can only be documented during the school year.


FORMS...

Form 1 & 2 Career Development & Responsibility Plan is a Google Form. The Google Form is shared with participants the first part of September each school year and is due by 3:30 p.m. on September 15. Participants should receive a response receipt email indicating that the form has been submitted and are encouraged to keep the response receipt email for their records.

Form 3 Documentation 20##-## -- LAST NAME, FIRST is a Google Sheets. The Google Sheets and instructions are shared with participants before the end of the current school year and due to be shared with Kay Sprague by 3:30 p.m. on April 15 the following school year.

Form 4 Career Ladder Verification Form for NEE* is a PDF document. Form 4 is for participants who are eligible and wish to move from Stage 1 to Stage 2 or from Stage 2 to Stage 3. Form 4 will be attached to an email that is sent to participants the second semester of each school year, and it is due BEFORE April 1 when Form 5 Career Ladder Intent to Apply is due. 

*must be completed if moving from Stage 1 to Stage 2 OR from Stage 2 to Stage 3

Form 5 Intent to Apply is a Google Form. The Google Form is shared with participants in March each school year and is due by 3:30 p.m. on April 1. Participants should receive a response receipt email indicating that the form has been submitted and are encouraged to keep the response receipt email for their records.

 

ACCEPTABLE RESPONSIBILITIES

All participants are required to include & document Responsibility #1.

#1 & 2 are DIRECT STUDENT CONTACT and # 3 – 7 are NON-DIRECT CONTACT

I will work with students in an effort to achieve success in an identified area.

Identified areas:  MAP deficiency, at-risk, promotion, graduation

Acceptable activities:  tutoring, counseling, extended lab/library hours

With administrative approval, I will work with students during a special activity/program or interest club/group created for students which promotes student and/or parent involvement, without compensation.

NOTE: Maximum hours for this responsibility →               

Stage 1 = 4 hours              Stage 2 = 6 hours              Stage 3 = 8 hours

I will do one or more of the following…

  • work on curriculum to align it to DESE expectations
  • research, develop, & implement activities to supplement current curriculum
  • implement technology to enhance current curriculum

I will serve as a member of school and professional committees.

I will keep parents informed of students’ progress through various means at times not stipulated by the district.  (NO newsletters)

6

I will assist students in post-secondary education planning.

7

I will show evidence of completing workshops / courses for professional development / college credit.
